A major investment by Komatsu in its Edmonton distribution centre is set to enhance parts delivery and availability for SMS Equipment’s customers.

Komatsu announced recently its Edmonton facility will significantly increase in size and be transformed into a factory distribution centre to accommodate more direct and efficient supply routes from its manufacturing centres overseas. Once complete, the upgraded facility will serve as a key logistics hub for Komatsu’s North American network.

“This is an exciting development for SMS Equipment and our customers as it shows Komatsu’s confidence in both the Canadian market and in our partnership.”
- Shaun Bilodeau, SVP, Parts & Service
Komatsu’s new parts distribution centre set to open early 2026.
The expanded warehouse capacity will complement our existing on-site inventory, creating quicker access to the parts our customers rely on to keep their operations running smoothly and efficiently. Customers’ ordering process will remain the same once the distribution centre is operational. They will continue to order and receive Komatsu parts through our branches and online purchasing system.

“We’re continually collaborating with Komatsu to optimize inventory and delivery performance,” adds Bilodeau. “Having a Komatsu parts distribution hub based in Canada enables shorter lead times, greater parts availability and faster delivery to our SMS Equipment locations, which allows us to extend the benefits to our customers.”

Komatsu’s expanded facility and factory distribution centre is expected to open in early 2026. For more details on Komatsu’s announcement, click here.
