Although the summer season has come and gone in the blink of an eye, it will long be remembered as a successful one. Confidence in the market, returning pre-recession levels, contributed to overall growth in construction activity across Canada. It is a welcome shift and sets the tone for opportunity.

SMS Equipment and Komatsu are deeply committed to continuously improving value through advanced products and technology.

One example is the release of the Komatsu XT-5 Series tracked feller bunchers for our forestry customers. The XT-5 Series features a novel design with more power, greater lift and increased productivity.

As for other forestry products, the new PC210LL-10 processor is an industry leader with 196 horsepower and newly introduced auxiliary load-sensing valves reducing temperatures and providing fuel consumption as low as 17 liters/hour. We are also excited to release the newly re-designed PC290LL-11log loader into the Western Canadian market place. These models are in stock and ready to go.

Komatsu further positioned itself as a leader in the forestry industry with the acquisition of both Quadco and Southstar operations. With Quadco’s felling heads and Southstar’s large harvester heads, Komatsu has one of the industry’s most impressive attachment lineups.

SMS Equipment also expanded product offerings this summer to include the innovative Takeuchi line of compact equipment throughout all our branches. A pioneer in the compact equipment industry, Takeuchi transformed the North American construction equipment markets and positioned themselves as a leading provider of compact equipment. These highly customizable machines provide enhanced solutions for light construction applications requiring highly productive compact machinery.

Infrastructure-improvement initiatives are underway to ensure our service continues to match the extraordinary product lines we carry. Work on the expansion of the Acheson, Alberta, remanufacturing facility will double the size and capacity of current operations. The openings of our newest branches in Hinton, Alberta, and Anchorage, Alaska will significantly expand service and support capabilities as they continue to evolve and come online.

Our people work diligently to earn your trust and deliver results. Refer to our customer testimonials to see the value we have added for our customers. Providing solutions has always been our top priority and we work every day to continue to achieve that standard.
